PEOPLE MATTER TO GOD AND TO US!

Mountain West is committed to providing you with training and development opportunities to prepare, equip and inspire you to fully use your gifts and passions to help transform our homes, our community and the world.  We accomplish this through what we call the Leadership Pipeline, it's the serving path at Mountain West.

The Leadership Pipeline

The Leadership Pipeline is divided into three main components.  The Next Step Class, which leads to Volunteer Placement,  and continual Leadership Development.

NEXT STEP CLASS

  • At the Next Step Class, you are introduced to Mountain West and receive information about membership.
  • You will be directed through a Gifts Assessment process to help you see how God has wired you to serve.
  • You are able to confirm an area of serving and are then handed off to a Ministry Leader for placement on a team.

VOLUNTEER PLACEMENT

  • The Ministry Leader will schedule your first serve opportunity, with a follow up visit to determine if you feel confident in this area.
  • The leader will help you confirm this is a good fit or redirect you to a new opportunity.
  • After 30 days of serving, there will be a follow up meeting to make sure you feel confident in this role.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

  • Specific Team Coaching is offered throughout the year through team-based training events.
  • Quarterly Follow Up Meetings are scheduled to continue to make sure your serving process is running smoothly.
  • Specific training is offered at each level of the pipeline.  (See the resources below)
  • The MW School of Leadership is a 2-year training offered to all volunteers.  It is designed to accelerate leadership and prepare volunteers for even greater areas of influence.

Roles on the Leadership Pipeline

Every individual that serves on a Hope team falls into one of five categories...Volunteers, Leaders, Team Leaders, Coordinators, and Directors.  The purpose of these roles is to define specific skills and expectations for every single team member.  Every role is important, but over time, individuals with leadership potential may be asked to fill larger roles on the team. Each level of serving has specific coaching and training materials designed to help you succeed.

Leadership Development Resources

Have you recently been invited to serve?  Then you're a part of the Leadership Pipeline at Mountain West!  Below you will find the coaching resources for each level of serving on a Hope Team.

Volunteer
Serve | Connect

The role of a Volunteer is to participate in ministry through serving on a team. This is the entry point for every person seeking to connect with Mountain West Church through serving.

Leader
Grow | Be an Example

The job of a Leader is to hone servant leadership skills. An individual in this role is not responsible for other people. He or she is in a growth and training relationship with a Team Leader or Coordinator where they learn how to lead through service.

Team Leader
Cast Vision | Execute

A Team Leader is responsible for leading a small group of people. He or she is responsible for executing the actual ministry of that team on a Sunday or throughout that week, creating a schedule, and communicating with the team regularly.

Coordinator
Evaluate | Connect | Train

A Coordinator’s primary role is to identify, connect and ensure proper training of new volunteers. He or she will also evaluate the ministry and team to identify needs for new volunteers, leaders and systems.

Director
Oversee Systems | Pastor

The Director takes the big-picture view of the team or ministry. He or she works with the Ministry Staff to oversee and evaluate the larger systems to ensure goals are met and ministry is effective. They are also responsible for evaluating the spiritual health of the team and coaching other leaders as they pastor their team members.
